World Congress 2023 Pre-Tour

On Saturday the 11th of November 2023 JCI Basel kicked off the World Congress 2023 Pre-tour with a Welcome Apero for all its international visitors in Café-Bar La Cour. Guests from JCI Australia, Barbados, Canada, Germany, Lithuania, Mauritius, Switzerland and USA join for wine, beer and apero snacks. First connections were made to get to know each other prior to attending the JCI World Congress 2023 in Zurich. Later on the Nightlife of Basel was explored. Some rumours were shared that people arrived only back in the early morning. Sunday the 12th of November was used by the participants to explore Basel on its own. However in the evening a delicious Traditional Swiss Fondue was served together with local Jaycees at the Restaurant Löwenzorn in the Historical City Center. Even some surprise guests from JCI Japan mingled into the group and made new connections.

Monday the 13th of November a day full of Basel (& surrounding) highlights was planned. The pre-tour group started off with a visit at the Vitra International Design museum where among other things different architectural highlights and the Eames chair were admired. After an early lunch in the VitraHaus Café the day was continued with a walk on the Dreiländerbrücke crossing the border to France and a tasting of a small surprise. A local French Crémant from the Alsace region. To get the best view over the city the group was guided up the 205 m high Roche tower where multiple pictures were taken. Following the highest point the tour was continued by taking the Leu Ferry to Münster where a tour guide from Basel Tourismus was waiting for us. Some of the main highlights of Basel city were told in addition to some fun facts. We closed off the day with a tour at the Ueli brewery and of course a beer tasting of the oldest craft beer in Basel. 

It was a pre-tour filled with culture, food, drinks and highlights of Basel. Thank you to all the participants for the fun!
